Swikriti Khadka

Swikriti Khadka, a Bachelor of IT graduate, developed a keen interest in technology during her studies, focusing on systems, security, and problem-solving. She joined CIHE in 2022 and actively contributed to the campus community. As a student, Swikriti served as the President of the Student Development Council, where her leadership helped make the council more structured and effective in representing students’ concerns to the management.   • What degree program were you in at CIHE, and when did you graduate?

    I graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Information Technology from CIHE in 2024. The program provided a comprehensive education that really shaped my career trajectory.

  • What were some of your favorite experiences and memories as a student at CIHE?

    Some of my favorite experiences were the collaborative projects in my courses, where I got to work alongside my peers on real-world challenges. Apart from the academic side, there were also various events and programs organized by the university that were really fun and enriching. Additionally, I was a part of the student council, which was a fantastic experience. Being involved in student leadership taught me a lot about teamwork, organization, and representing the student body.

  • What skills did you develop at CIHE that prepared you for the job search process and your current role?

    At CIHE, I developed several key skills that were crucial for both my academic success and my career preparation. These included critical thinking, time management, teamwork, and presentation skills. The collaborative projects and events helped me strengthen my ability to work effectively in teams and communicate ideas clearly. Additionally, the rigorous coursework and exposure to real-world challenges sharpened my problem-solving abilities. The networking opportunities, such as industry events and talks by professionals, allowed me to build valuable connections and gain insights into the job market, which made me feel more confident as I navigated the job search process.

  • What tools, networks, or support from CIHE helped you land your first job after graduation?

    The networks I built at CIHE played a key role in helping me land my first job after graduation. From my peers to lecturers and alumni, these connections offered support, guidance, and shared experiences that were invaluable during my job search. The Career Council at CIHE was incredibly helpful in this journey. They supported me with workshops, resume tips, and mock interviews that boosted my confidence. With the support of these networks and the Career Council, I felt prepared and ready to take the first steps into my career, knowing I had the right tools and encouragement behind me.

  • Walk us through your job search process after finishing at CIHE. Any key learnings for students?

    My job search process heavily relied on the networks I built at CIHE. The alumni network and the Career Council played a vital role, offering guidance, sharing opportunities, and helping me feel prepared for interviews. I also attended industry events and tailored my applications to fit each role. One key takeaway I’d share with students is to start building your network early—those connections can open doors to opportunities you might not find on your own.

  • What excites you most about your new career path and company?

    I’m excited about the chance to grow both personally and professionally in my new role. The support and guidance I’ve already received from my new team make me feel confident in this next step. The company’s culture of collaboration and the opportunity to work on meaningful projects align perfectly with my goals and values, which makes the journey ahead even more exciting. This sense of community and support reminds me of my time at CIHE, where I first experienced the power of a strong network that helped me shape my career path.

  • What are 3 key pieces of advice you want to share with current CIHE students about making the most of their college experience?

    The three key pieces of advice that i would advice are- Use the college resources: CIHE offers numerous resources, such as career services, mentoring programs, and academic workshops. Take full advantage of them! Build connections: Engage with your peers, lecturers, and alumni. Networking can open doors to internships, job opportunities and many helpful insights. Balance academics with extracurriculars: Explore activities outside your coursework to build soft skills and broaden your experiences.These later help you with the real world problems which oftentimes we disregard.

  • How do you plan to stay actively engaged with the CIHE alumni community?

    I plan to stay actively involved by attending both in-person and virtual alumni events. Additionally, I hope to give back by mentoring current students and sharing my experiences through the CIHE alumni network, helping others navigate their own journeys

  • What was your learning style, and how did you balance work and study?

    I don’t have a fixed learning style but follow a few steps that help me achieve good grades without much trouble. For instance, I focus on listening attentively to lecturers, as they often provide more insight than lecture slides. I also make detailed notes during lectures and rely on those notes for studying, rather than the slides themselves.I ask questions whenever possible and use the study material too which greatly affects my grades.

  • Any other reflections or memories you want to share about your CIHE journey?

    My time at CIHE was a period of incredible growth and self-discovery. The challenges I faced, from group projects to late-night study sessions, pushed me to become more resilient and confident in my abilities. I’ll always cherish the cultural events, where we celebrated diversity and built a sense of community that felt like home. The unwavering support from lecturers and staff truly stood out. They didn’t just teach—they mentored, encouraged, and believed in me even when I doubted myself. Those small but meaningful gestures made a lasting impact on my journey. Above all, it’s the friendships I made that I hold closest to my heart. My peers were more than classmates; they became my family, supporting me through the highs and lows. CIHE wasn’t just a place of learning—it was a place of belonging, and the memories I made will stay with me forever.
