ABOUT THIS COURSE

The Bachelor of Business (BBus) is an AQF Level 7 undergraduate qualification designed to provide students with broad business knowledge and applied management capabilities across diverse organisational contexts. The program combines a comprehensive suite of core units with opportunities to major in Hospitality Management, Information Systems, or Entrepreneurship and Innovation, ensuring graduates develop the analytical, technical, and professional skills required for contemporary business practice. Its philosophy emphasises academic rigour integrated with applied learning, preparing graduates for professional careers in business or progression to postgraduate study.

To fulfil the requirements of this course, students must complete 240 credit points over three years of full-time study (or part-time equivalent). This includes 13 core units that establish the foundation of business knowledge, 9 units in a chosen major, and 2 elective units. Students may also elect to complete a 20-credit-point  internship, providing direct professional experience and strengthening career readiness.

MAJORS

The Entrepreneurship and Innovation major equips students with the knowledge and capabilities to design, develop, and manage new ventures in dynamic business environments. The sequence of units covers entrepreneurial management, start-up and small business operations, corporate and disruptive innovation, finance for entrepreneurs, and intellectual property and commercialisation. Students learn to identify and evaluate opportunities, secure resources, and implement innovative strategies that create value in both established organisations and new enterprises. A capstone project or internship option enables students to apply entrepreneurial thinking to real-world challenges. Graduates of this major are prepared to launch their own ventures or contribute to innovation-driven roles across industries.

The Information Systems major develops the skills required to manage the design, implementation, and governance of technology solutions in business contexts. Students engage with units in Python programming for business, systems analysis and design, project management, knowledge management, business analytics, management information systems, and enterprise systems governance, risk, and compliance. In the final stage, students may complete either a capstone project or an industry internship (equivalent to two elective units), providing practical experience and applied learning opportunities.

This major prepares students to align technology strategy with organisational goals, manage digital projects, and support decision-making through data-driven insights. Emphasis is placed on understanding digital transformation and emerging technologies in both global and local contexts. Graduates are equipped for roles such as Business Systems Analyst, IT Project Manager, Digital Transformation Consultant, and Information Systems Manager.

The Hospitality Management major provides students with sector-specific expertise for leadership in the global hospitality and tourism industries. The program covers the foundations of hospitality, food and beverage management, service quality and experience design, accommodation and rooms division management, and facilities management. Additional units address responsible revenue and cost management, as well as risk and crisis management in hospitality organisations. Leadership and change management is included as a core component, ensuring students can adapt to the challenges of an evolving service industry. This major also includes a core internship unit, enabling students to gain practical experience and industry connections. Graduates are prepared for management roles in hotels, resorts, restaurants, and related service organisations in Australia and internationally.
