ABOUT THIS COURSE

The Master of Business Administration (Advanced) is an AQF Level 9 Master’s (Coursework) qualification designed to develop advanced business knowledge and applied management capabilities across diverse organisational contexts. The program integrates core business foundations with extended opportunities for specialisations and elective study, equipping graduates with the analytical, strategic, and leadership skills required to manage complex enterprises and address contemporary challenges in professional practice. Its philosophy is centred on combining academic rigour with applied learning, ensuring graduates are prepared for senior management, executive leadership, or entrepreneurial pathways.

To fulfil the requirements of this course, students must complete 160 credit points, comprising 70 credit points of core units, a 10-credit-point Strategic Management Capstone, and 80 credit points drawn from specialisations and/or electives. Students may complete one specialisation with additional electives, pursue two full specialisations, or combine electives with an internship to strengthen professional skills through applied practice.

SPECIALISATIONS

The Hospitality Management specialisation develops advanced expertise for leadership in global hospitality and tourism enterprises. Students study experience design and management, service quality in hospitality, hospitality sales and marketing, and responsible revenue and cost management. A core internship is included, providing direct industry experience and professional engagement.

This specialisation equips graduates with the knowledge and applied skills to manage complex hospitality operations, drive service excellence, and address contemporary industry challenges. Graduates are prepared for leadership roles in hotels, resorts, restaurants, and related service organisations in Australia and internationally.

The Project Management specialisation provides students with advanced capabilities to plan, implement, and oversee complex projects across industries. Students study project management principles and techniques, program and portfolio management, risk and continuity management, and managing and leading project teams. An internship option is available, offering the opportunity to apply knowledge in real project environments.

This specialisation prepares graduates with the analytical, strategic, and leadership skills required to deliver projects on time, within scope, and aligned with organisational goals. Graduates are prepared for careers as project managers, program directors, and consultants in both private and public sector organisations.

The Information Systems specialisation develops the skills required to manage the design, implementation, and governance of technology solutions in business contexts. Students engage with enterprise systems architecture and governance, cybersecurity strategies, management information systems, and digital transformation. An internship option is available, providing valuable experience in industry settings.

This specialisation equips graduates to align technology strategy with organisational objectives, manage digital innovation, and support decision-making through data-driven insights. Graduates are prepared for roles such as IT project manager, business systems consultant, digital transformation specialist, and information systems manager.

The MBA (Advanced) provides extended study through an additional eight units, offering students the flexibility to customise their learning. Students may complete a single specialisation with extra electives, pursue two full specialisations, or combine electives with an internship option to gain practical professional experience. This structure allows students to either broaden their expertise across disciplines or deepen their knowledge in complementary fields, creating tailored pathways that align with individual career aspirations and leadership goals.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To satisfy the general entrance requirements for admission to the MBA (Advanced) course, applicants must meet at least one of the following entry requirements:

DOMESTIC STUDENTS
ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree from an Australian university or higher education institution (HEI), or an equivalent qualification from an overseas institution. Applicants whose qualifications are in a non-business discipline may be required to undertake additional preparatory studies. In exceptional cases, applicants with substantial relevant professional experience and demonstrated academic capability may also be considered for admission.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International students must meet the same academic entry requirements as domestic applicants. In addition, international students, or local applicants with international qualifications completed in a language other than English, must demonstrate English language proficiency. 

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

International students, or local applicants with international qualifications completed in a language other than English, must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be satisfied with one of the following:

  • IELTS Academic: Overall 6.5, no band less than 6
  • Pearson PTE Academic: Overall 56, no communicative skill below 50

    • Note: CIHE does not accept applications from students under 18 years of age.

    • Offshore applicants may also be required to complete a Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) form. The Registrar will advise agents if this applies.

  • Assessment and outcome
    • CIHE will assess the application and notify you of the outcome.
    • Successful applicants will receive a Letter of Offer and Written Agreement.
  • Acceptance and enrolment
    • Students must sign and return the Letter of Offer and Written Agreement, and pay the tuition deposit as specified.
    • CIHE will then issue a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), required to apply for an Australian student visa.
