ABOUT THIS COURSE
The Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) (Birth to Five) is a two-year postgraduate degree designed to prepare students for teaching roles in early childhood education settings. The program combines theory with practical experience to develop skilled, reflective, and culturally responsive educators who can support the learning and wellbeing of children from birth to five years. It includes a nested Graduate Diploma option and meets national accreditation standards. As part of this nested structure, Master’s students who successfully complete the first year, including all required units and placements, have the option to exit the program with the Graduate Diploma in Education (Early Childhood) (Birth to Five).
A graduate of the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) (Birth to Five) may progress to secure employment in the public and private sectors as Early Childhood Teacher, Preschool Educator, Childcare Centre Director, Early Learning Coordinator, Family Support Worker, Educational Program Leader, Community Education Facilitator, Curriculum Developer, Early Intervention Specialist, or Education Policy Assistant. Graduates may also pursue further study or academic careers as Education Researchers, Early Childhood Lecturers, or Policy and Advocacy Specialists.

With strong knowledge of child development and inclusive pedagogy, they support children and families, lead quality practice, and contribute meaningfully beyond the classroom.
Over the entire program students will acquire the necessary attributes that will distinguish them as a graduate of CIHE Australia.
- A graduate of CIHE Australia will possess comprehensive knowledge in their discipline and be able to apply that knowledge effectively in the workplace.
- They will be able to identify problems and work pro-actively and creatively to develop solutions and to generate, analyse and interpret different types of information to inform and support decision-making processes.
- They will be able to do the following: think logically and critically to analyse and solve problems; work with high levels of autonomy; be independent thinkers; engage with others proactively and collaboratively for continued personal and professional development;
act ethically and with an awareness of cultural diversity and will have developed their communication skills.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To satisfy the general entrance requirements for admission to the MIT course, applicants must meet at least one of the following entry requirements:
DOMESTIC APPLICANTS:
Domestic applicants with a non-cognate AQF7 credential:
- Successful completion of an Australian recognised AQF7 qualification or overseas equivalent
INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS:
International students must meet the conditions above.
- In addition, international students whose first language is not English must demonstrate competency in the English language. English proficiency can be demonstrated by providing proof of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall test result (or equivalent alternative test result as defined by regulation) that meets the specified level of English proficiency specified for the course: IELTS 7 with no individual band below 6.5, Pearson PTE Academic 65 overall with no individual communicative skill below 58, or recognised equivalency.
Where international students have achieved an AQF qualification or equivalent overseas qualification and where the language of instruction has been English, students are deemed to have met the English language fluency requirement.

Every State/Territory in Australia has its own Teacher Registration Authority. You can find a link to authority which covers your location here. For Example, in New South Wales, the Authority is the NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA). For graduates with qualifications from Birth to Five, NESA does not do its own assessment but refers to the assessment of the professional body, which is called Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), so your first step is to seek accreditation with ACECQA before applying for registration with NESA. CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING
CIHE Australia grants credit towards a course of study on the basis of prior learning, whether from formal studies or professional work experience to ensure that students commence study at a level appropriate to their prior learning experiences so that they are not required to repeat prior learning.

MODES OF STUDY ASSESSMENT
At CIHE Australia we provide workshop-based engaged learning. All our units involve participation in 3 hours of on-campus workshop per week for 12 weeks. Each week’s workshop will require preparation – reading, activities and online work.
All our units are supported by an online learning management system – Moodle.
We use a range of assessment tasks at CIHE to help you monitor your learning – quizzes, group work, case-studies and scenario-based activities, reports and exams.
Our assessment tasks are designed to be work-oriented, that is, they are designed to mimic the real world processes involved in business so that you will be ready to start your career as an active independent professional.
