ABOUT THIS COURSE

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an AQF Level 9 Masters (Coursework) qualification designed to develop advanced business knowledge and applied management capabilities across diverse organisational contexts. The program integrates core business foundations with opportunities for specialisation, equipping graduates with the analytical, strategic, and leadership skills required to manage complex enterprises and address contemporary challenges in professional practice. The course philosophy is centred on combining academic rigour with applied learning, ensuring graduates are prepared for senior management, executive leadership, or entrepreneurial pathways.

To fulfil the requirements of this course, students must complete a total of 12 units. This includes 8 core units in leadership, strategic management, people and culture, economics, business ethics, and marketing, as well as 3 flexible units chosen as electives or from a designated specialisation in Hospitality Management, Project Management, or Information Systems.

The program also includes the Strategic Management Capstone, where students integrate and apply their learning to complex real-world business scenarios.

SPECIALIZATION

The Project Management specialisation equips students with the knowledge and practical skills to plan, implement, and manage complex projects across industries. The curriculum includes electives in project management principles and techniques, program and portfolio management, risk and continuity planning, and managing and leading project teams. Students gain advanced capabilities in aligning projects with organisational strategy, managing resources effectively, and delivering outcomes within scope, budget, and time constraints. This specialisation prepares graduates for senior roles such as Project Director, Program Manager, and Portfolio Manager in both the private and public sectors.

The Hospitality Management specialisation prepares graduates for senior roles in the global hospitality and tourism industries. Students develop advanced expertise in service quality management, experience design and management, hospitality sales and marketing, and responsible revenue and cost management. Electives in this stream emphasise operational leadership, sustainable business practices, and strategic decision-making in hotels, resorts, and service organisations. This specialisation equips students with the capabilities to manage complex hospitality operations, enhance guest experiences, and lead innovation across the hospitality sector in Australia and internationally.

The Information Systems specialisation focuses on the integration of technology and business strategy in contemporary organisations. Students explore electives in enterprise systems architecture and governance, management information systems, cybersecurity strategies, and managing digital transformation with emerging technologies. The program develops advanced skills in leveraging technology to drive innovation, enhance organisational performance, and address technological risk. This specialisation equips graduates for leadership roles such as Business Transformation Lead, Enterprise Systems Manager, and Digital Strategy Director, with the expertise to guide organisations through digital disruption and global competition.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To satisfy the general entrance requirements for admission to the MBA course, applicants must meet at least one of the following entry requirements:

DOMESTIC STUDENTS
ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree from an Australian university or higher education institution (HEI), or an equivalent qualification from an overseas institution. Applicants whose qualifications are in a non-business discipline may be required to undertake additional preparatory studies. In exceptional cases, applicants with substantial relevant professional experience and demonstrated academic capability may also be considered for admission.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International students must meet the same academic entry requirements as domestic applicants. In addition, international students, or local applicants with international qualifications completed in a language other than English, must demonstrate English language proficiency. 

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

International students, or local applicants with international qualifications completed in a language other than English, must demonstrate English language proficiency. This can be satisfied with one of the following:

  • IELTS Academic: Overall 6.5, no band less than 6
  • Pearson PTE Academic: Overall 56, no communicative skill below 50
  • Equivalent recognised qualification

    • Note: CIHE does not accept applications from students under 18 years of age.
  • Apply through the correct channel
    • Offshore applicants must apply via an authorised CIHE agent.

    • Offshore applicants may also be required to complete a Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) form. The Registrar will advise agents if this applies.

  • Assessment and outcome
    • CIHE will assess the application and notify you of the outcome.
    • Successful applicants will receive a Letter of Offer and Written Agreement.
  • Acceptance and enrolment
    • Students must sign and return the Letter of Offer and Written Agreement, and pay the tuition deposit as specified.
    • CIHE will then issue a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), required to apply for an Australian student visa.

CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING

MODES OF STUDY ASSESSMENT

At CIHE Australia we provide workshop-based engaged learning. All our units involve participation in 3 hours of on-campus workshop per week for 12 weeks. Each week’s workshop will require preparation – reading, activities and online work.

All our units are supported by an online learning management system – Moodle.

We use a range of assessment tasks at CIHE to help you monitor your learning – quizzes, group work, case-studies and scenario-based activities, reports and exams.

Our assessment tasks are designed to be work-oriented, that is, they are designed to mimic the real world processes involved in business so that you will be ready to start your career as an active independent professional.
