As an enthusiastic linguist, Katie Morera joined CIHE in March 2023 as an Academic Manager for ELICOS / Language and Learning Advisor. Her experience in teaching English as a second language including; Academic English, Test Preparation, and General English, has aided her in role as Language and Learning Advisor. Katie teaches Business Communication at CIHE and is particularly interested in creating resources for students who are keen to improve their academic skills. The majority of her experience has been related to assessing students for high-stakes English assessments, and she prides herself on creating a positive and comfortable experience for test candidates and students in the classroom. In addition to this, she aims to provide interactive and practical learning experience. 

In 2003, Katie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Languages majoring in German and functional English grammar. This experience prompted her to embark on her teaching career at the University of New South Wales where she completed a graduate diploma in teaching English as a second language (TESOL)in 2004. Having been inspired by the teaching methodology applied by ESL experts, Katie went onto completing a masters of Linguistics at the University of Technology in 2010, in the same year, Katie began her work in test invigilation, assessment, and interlocution for three separate high stakes English testing systems. She presented current teaching methodology at the Austrade conference in Chang Mai, Thailand in 2013. Published and presented action research focusing on Pronunciation accuracy and intelligibility in 2020. This also included participation in the action research colloquium with English Australia and Dr. Ruth Burns. Katie also completed a certificate IV in Training and Assessment at Western Sydney University in 2022. In her free time, Katie enjoys writing fiction, practicing yoga, and travelling.
