KU-CIHE IT Double Degree 2026 Intake Open

CIHE Australia in collaboration with Kathmandu University (KU) School of Engineering, has officially opened admissions for the 2026 intake of its Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) Double Degree Program.

Upon successful completion, graduates receive qualifications aligned with both institutions’ academic frameworks.
Students are dual-registered from commencement, with credits transferred between institutions at the end of each semester. A dedicated convocation ceremony will be held in Nepal with representatives from CIHE Australia for the awarding of degrees.
Students may also have the option of completing the full four-year degree at KU School of Engineering in Nepal.

More about the program
This program provides a tailored academic pathway across two dynamic institutions. Students immerse themselves in diverse academic environments where innovative teaching, applied learning and research-informed practice are central.
Flexible progression options allow students to continue in Nepal if visa challenges arise, ensuring continuity of study. Kathmandu University also offers alternative pathways such as the Bachelor of Computer Science or Bachelor of Technology in Artificial Intelligence for students seeking specialised directions.
At CIHE Australia, students can pursue in-demand professional fields including cyber security and IT service management (ITIL), aligned with high growth sectors in Australia and globally. Graduates may also further their studies by completing CIHE Australia’s Master of Information Technology, deepening expertise in cyber security or specialising as a software engineer.
Both institutions align their programs with international computing competency frameworks, ensuring graduates develop globally transferable knowledge and skills. Students benefit from dual degrees, cost-effective fee structures and access to scholarship opportunities at CIHE Australia.
Studying across two countries builds technical expertise, cross-cultural capability and global perspective — preparing graduates to thrive anywhere in the world.
The historic agreement between CIHE Australia and KU was signed in the presence of Australia’s Ambassador to Nepal HE Felicity Folk and KU ViceChancellor Professor Bhola Thapa.
“This is the first time we are starting a formal bachelor’s degree program in Australia. It is a new beginning for the entire higher education system in Nepal and not just KU,” VC Professor Thapa said.
KU Registrar Professor Achyut Wagle said the agreement was a step towards building a unique brand of education to provide excellent education to the next generation of students.
“We already see some good prospects, and we need to keep exploring new avenues for collaboration. Let’s build a separate and unique brand of education for providing excellent education to the next generation of students,” Wagle said.
In addition, KU and CIHE Australia signed an MoU for joint research, exchange of faculty, students and staff, and exchange of materials, publications and information, among other academic activities.
