ABOUT THIS COURSE

The Master of Professional Accounting is 1.5 years full-time or (equivalent part-time for domestic students only) qualification designed to offer a broad conceptual framework and theoretical Accounting knowledge and develop practical technical accounting skills, analytical skills, business acumen, critical thinking and communication skills.

A graduate of the Master of Professional Accounting will be well placed to work as a professional accountant in a range of workplace contexts and environments: professional accountants work in business advisory services; taxation; management consulting; chief financial officers; financial controllers, financial analysts, tax and estate advisers, financial and management accountants, auditors, investment advisors external reporting; management account cloud accounting; financial accounting and financial management; internal and external auditing; policy formulation; and strategic planning. The CIHE Australia Master of Professional Accounting has been carefully aligned with the accreditation requirements of the CPAA and CA ANZ so that the degree will provide CPAA and CA ANZ accreditation for students upon successful completion of the course.

GRADUATE ATTRIBUTES

  • Graduates of the Master of Accounting program are prepared to work in diverse professional settings, with the program’s conceptual framework informing a wide range of roles beyond traditional accounting. The program equips students with comprehensive knowledge in accounting, enabling them to effectively identify and creatively solve financial problems, generate, analyze, and interpret various types of financial information to support decision-making processes. Graduates are trained to think logically and critically, work autonomously, engage proactively and collaboratively for personal and professional development, and act ethically with cultural awareness. They also develop strong communication skills.
  • The program prepares graduates for roles such as professional accountants work in business advisory services; taxation; management consulting; chief financial officers; financial controllers, financial analysts, tax and estate advisers, financial and management accountants, auditors, investment advisors external reporting; management account cloud accounting; financial accounting and financial management; internal and external auditing; policy formulation; and strategic planning.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To satisfy the general entrance requirements for admission to the MPA course, applicants must meet at least one of the following entry requirements:

DOMESTIC APPLICANTS:

Domestic applicants with a non-cognate AQF7 credential:

  • Successful completion of a non-accounting undergraduate degree (AQF Level 7) in any discipline from an Australian university or AQF equivalent from an overseas institution that had been delivered in English with a grade point average in a undergraduate program of at least 2.4, where the range is four, and an equivalent proportion for other ranges.
Domestic applicants with a cognate AQF7 credential:
  • Successful completion of an Australian recognised Bachelor of Accounting (BOA) or equivalent qualification that had been delivered in English with a grade point average in a undergraduate program of at least 2.4, where the range is four, and an equivalent proportion for other ranges or
  • Successful completion of an Australian recognised Graduate Certificate of Accounting or Graduate Diploma of Accounting or their equivalent qualification that had been delivered in English with a grade point average in a undergraduate program of at least 2.4, where the range is four, and an equivalent proportion for other ranges or

Without a cognate AQ7 credential:

  • Equivalent professional evidence of a minimum of two years of relevant industry experience which will allow domestic applicants to apply for RPL based on their industry experience.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS:

International students must meet the conditions above.

  • In addition, international students whose first language is not English must demonstrate competency in the English language. English proficiency can be demonstrated by providing proof of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall test result (or equivalent alternative test result as defined by regulation) that meets the specified level of English proficiency specified for the course: IELTS, a minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0, TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT), a minimum overall score of 79 with a minimum writing score of 21. Pearson PTE Academic, a minimum overall score of 58 with no score lower than 50, or recognised equivalency.
  • Where international student have achieved an AQF qualification or equivalent overseas qualification and where the language of instruction has been English, students are deemed to have met the English language fluency requirement.

CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING

MODES OF STUDY ASSESSMENT

At CIHE Australia we provide workshop-based engaged learning. All our units involve participation in 3 hours of on-campus workshop per week for 12 weeks. Each week’s workshop will require preparation – reading, activities and online work.

All our units are supported by an online learning management system – Moodle.

We use a range of assessment tasks at CIHE to help you monitor your learning – quizzes, group work, case-studies and scenario-based activities, reports and exams.

Our assessment tasks are designed to be work-oriented, that is, they are designed to mimic the real world processes involved in business so that you will be ready to start your career as an active independent professional.
